Scott C. Kurland
Scott Kurland, founding Principal of the firm received his B.F.A at the Pratt Institute in 1975. Through his twenty-seven years of professional NY architectural design experience, Mr. Kurland has gained a reputation for his unique problem solving approach to projects in the design community. He is experienced in designing for a broad range of clients by integrating his multi-faceted architectural design talents and project management abilities.
Moreover, Mr. Kurland is recognized for his special design talents in numerous design awards, such as the Hexter Award for the Interior of the Year, the Award of Excellence by the Broadcast Design Association, and the Emmy Award. In addition, under the design direction of Mr. Kurland, many of the firm’s projects have appeared as cover stories and feature articles in different professional publications, including Interior Design, Interiors, Professional Office Design, Real Estate Forum, and Crain’s NY Business.
Mr. Kurland is well known for his practical approach to project management. He reviews and insures the client’s programmatic and practical needs are fulfilled, building codes are adhered, while continually seeking creative, and yet cost effective solutions without sacrificing the quality of the design. He has extensive experience working with real estate agents, building owners, and developers in New York City.
Prior to establishing his own practice in 1980, Mr. Kurland served as the Interior Architect in 2 of the country’s largest and most prestigious architectural design firms: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill; and Swanke, Hayden, Connell & Partners, where he designed and managed numerous corporate and medical facility projects.
Mr. Kurland applies his multi-disciplinary design experience and problem solving abilities through the diversity of his portfolio, which leads to a highly personal involvement and customized design solution for every client.
